The Brent Cross Town heat network — Vattenfall
Vattenfall is designing and operating the Brent Cross Town heat network which is set to become one of the largest heat networks in the UK. The network will provide 6,700 new homes and over three million square feet of commercial space in Brent Cross Town – a major new regeneration development in North London – with low carbon heating and hot water as well as cooling.
Heating and cooling will be generated in the development’s all-electric main energy centre, one of the largest such facilities in Europe. Using technologies such as heat pumps, electrical boilers, chillers and thermal stores, the expected supply capacity of the heat network is 30 MW of heat and 20 MW of cooling.
In line with the Mayor of London’s net zero ambitions, Brent Cross Town has made a bold pledge to reach net zero carbon. Vattenfall’s heat network is a key contributor towards the achievement of this target, supporting the development’s transition from fossil-fuelled heating to low carbon alternatives.
